  • Graduated from High school in 1901 Instead of attending a 4-year college he attended a business college in Kansas for a semester, but later having to drop out due to his family's financial reasons.  Previously a farmer, senator and vice-president before presidency
  • "If you can't beat 'em, confuse them." This quote was used during a speech he was giving, in which he asserted his political opponents were using this tactic.

  • Joined the Korean war to help South Korea in the Korean War. The war started with initial failure but ultimately lead to success after a change of strategy. Soon after China set the threat to join the war leading us to back off.
  • In an attempt to contain communism in the east, Truman sent George C. Marshall to China to attempt to meditate the conflict between the two parties that formed. (Jiang Jieshi of the nationalist government and Mao Zedong of the communist party) Ultimately though, containment failed leading to the loss of China as an ally.
