I'm so happy! My business is thriving, as well as many other black-owned stores.
White men were enraged by the black men's success. They believed that black success would lead to their downfall.
More and more people got angry...
Eventually, a huge group of irate white men who were afraid of losing their jobs gathered.
The group of men gathered weapons and attacked innocent black people.
The militia came three after the riot started. By then, 26 people had already been killed, hundreds more injured. This riot gave Atlanta a reputation of being extremely racist, and the leaders were left with the challenge of reversing that.
