  • The lend-lease act was a bill written into law by Roosevelt stating the US could lend military aid to it's foreign allies during world war 2 , while remaining neutral
  • The U.S moved it's troops to Hawaii , which made the Japanese feel threatened . This caused to Japan to bomb the US military base at 8am before they were awake.
  • Richard B. Russell and Carl Vinson were both legislators ,who brought military presence to Georgia. Both created military program throughout the nation, especially in Georgia. This led to 15 new military installations in Georgia.
  • Ivan Allen Jr was serving his term during the ending period of the war. Allen entered the service in 1942 as a second lieutenant and was discharged in 1945 as a major.He also helped citizen remain calm during the civil rights movement.
  • William B. Hartsfield was the current mayor of Atlanta.He had the longest term in office. He encouraged the transportation of flight. This caused the construction of the world's busiest airport. This caused Georgia's population to grow.
  • In November 1946,Eugene Talmadge was elected governor for a fourth term but died before he could take office.The General Assembly chose between the two people with the largest number of write-in votes,and Herman Talmadge won.Ellis Arnall,who was a governor, who wanted to end segregation across Georgia. e decided to quit governor and tried his issue in court. Citizens voted again in 1948 and Herman Talmadge won.
