"Huh, Remember old waxy at school?"
"Wasn't he waxy?" "About the-" "Fire and Pig." "Lucky he went for Jack, 'stead of us."
"Ralph! Wake up!" "Ralph! Wake up!" "We saw-" "the beast-" "-plain!"
"What's the matter?"
"You haven't got the conch. Here"
"You're always scared."
"I mean- how about us? Suppose the beast comes when you're all away. I can't see proper, and if I get scared-"
Well here they are making fun of Sam because he is building the fire kind of close to the tents where the boys are sleeping. This is important because you can some of the guys are going to be bullies or are already bullies.
So here is the boys first interaction with the 'beast" and the twins are the first to see the beast an come back to tell Ralph about it. It's important because you can see the boys think the island has beast on it when it really doesn't.
Here in this scene piggy is trying to keep all the boys safe from the beast but kind of scared and of course jack makes fun of him for it. This scene is important because you can see jack is going to be a bully through out the book and piggy is going to be the one that tries to keep the boys safe.
