I heard that there is a hurricane in our area!
What's a hurricane and how is it formed?
Hurricanes begin as tropical storms over the warm moist waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans near the equator. (Near the Phillippines and the China Sea,hurricanes are called typhoons.) As the moisture evaporates it rises until enormous amounts of heated moist air are twisted high in the atmosphere
How can you be safe from a hurricane?
Leave low lying areas.Protect windows with plywood boards, or storm shutters.Secure outside objects.Make sure you have plenty of fuel and water.Have several days supply of food and water for each family member. If called to evacuate, do so immediately.
Speaking of safety shouldn't we start doing that? Isn't that hurricane about to hit our area?
Oh no, I forgot!
