Principle 2: Overproduction and the Struggle to Survive
Principle 3: Differential Survival and Reproduction (Survival of the Fittest)
There are three different color coat of hedgehogs in their habitat. One type is a brown fur, another type is the grey coat, the other is the albino coat. There is more albino coat hedgehogs then brown and grey coat hedgehog.
Principle 4: Change in the Gene Pool
Albino hedgehogs are more likely to be spotted in the grass or dirt by predators. Albino hedgehogs start dying out than the others hedgehogs.
Organism: Hedgehog Environment: Hedgerow, Woodlands, & Meadows Trait Selected for: Brown or grey spine coat Adaptation Type: Physical (Camouflage)
The albino hedgehog start dying out due to them not camouflaging with their environment . The grey and brown hedgehog would live longer due to their coat being camouflaging with the environment and produce more.
The survivor hedgehogs would pass down their genes so their offspring can pass down their genetics. These genetics would be more useful than then albino genetics.
