At Age 11 Olaudah Equiano was sold into slavery. He was aboard a ship where he cried because of the smell of the dead bodies and most of the time he would lose his appetite because of the horrible smells.
In 1789 as a free man Olaudsh Equiano sold many copies of his life as a slave. This later influenced the British government in 1807 to make slavery illegal, but at this time England no longer had control of the United States. This meant that slavery was still legal in the U.S.
Congratulations on the book!
James Albert Ukawsaw Gronniosaw unknowingly sold himself up for slavery at the age of 15. James didn't have a good relationship with his parents at the time and the way that the slave merchant described how his life in the United States would be intrigued James. Once he realized his mistake it was too late.
