Storyboard Text

  • Hi! My scientific name is sylvilagus floridanus, but you can call me Eastern Cottontail Rabbit.
  • Habitat: A distinct environment in which a biotic thing lives. Includes food, water, shelter, and space.
  • This is my habitat; grassy fields and woodland areas in New England
  • My niche includes my diet, my home, and my interactions with other animals.
  • Niche: A role the species plays in the habitat. Includes the type of food it eats, where it lives, and its relationship with other species.
  • My niche specifically includes bark and twigs, a burrow, and my predator the bobcat.
  • Habitats and niches are different. They are related, but a habitat is like the address in an ecosystem while a niche is like someones occupation.
  • I think I see a bobcat; I need to go into my burrow now!
