Storyboard Text

  • The Indus Valley was on the Indus River that begins in the Himalayan mountains and ends at the Arabian Sea.
  • The Indus civilization existed 5,000 years ago in the modern countries of Pakistan and northern India.
  • Indus people spent more time on the roof than inside. They did this because it was cooler to sleep outside than inside.
  • Homes in the Indus Valley had courtyards for children to play in and to work in.
  • The Indus people had to stand on a ''shower tray'' and a family member tipped water on them.
  • The water flowed out of the house through a pipe.
  • Indus people prayed to a mother goddess because they believed it gave health and fertility to people, plants, and animals.
  • The Indus people had a bathing part of their religion because they believed in purity.
  • With no money, the Indus people used seals to seal their packages for trading.
  • To use the seals you had to press it on the package, then let it dry.
  • People traded from all over the place.
  • But after a while the trade networks collapsed and cities fell into ruins.
