Storyboard Text
Carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight are absorbed into the plant during photosynthesis, which occurs in the chloroplast.
The light energy is used to split the carbon dioxide into oxygen, hydrogen protons, and high energy electrons.
The light dependent reaction occurs in the thylakoid membrane, which contains chlorophyll.
Oxygen is released. The chemical energy combines with ADP as ATP synthase to make ATP
The chemical energy turns NADP+ to NADPH.
The NADPH and ATP travel to the stroma, where the light independent reaction occurs.
The CO2, ATP, and NADPH are used to make glucose, which fuels the plant. This results in ADP and NADP+, which go back into the thylakoid membrane.
