Storyboard Text

  • Carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight are absorbed into the plant during photosynthesis, which occurs in the chloroplast.
  • The light energy is used to split the carbon dioxide into oxygen, hydrogen protons, and high energy electrons.
  • The light dependent reaction occurs in the thylakoid membrane, which contains chlorophyll.
  • Oxygen is released. The chemical energy combines with ADP as ATP synthase to make ATP
  • The chemical energy turns NADP+ to NADPH.
  • The NADPH and ATP travel to the stroma, where the light independent reaction occurs.
  • The CO2, ATP, and NADPH are used to make glucose, which fuels the plant. This results in ADP and NADP+, which go back into the thylakoid membrane.
