A long time ago, an extraordinary baby named Siddhartha Gautama was born. He could already speak and walk, and flowers bloomed under his feet when he walked
His father, the king of India at the time, consulted a seer to tell him of what his sons future held. She foretold that he would be either a great kind or a great prophet who would save the world. The determined father wanted his son to be a king like him, so he kept him away from the outside world and its suffering
But one day, the prince was allowed a tour of the city and saw for the first time what suffering was. He became inspired and wanted to know the key to change this from the world
He kissed his wife, baby, family and kingdom behind and rode off into the darkness to learn about the secrets of suffering and be filled with wisdom
For many years, he spent alone or with other wise men in the wilderness studying and thinking about these things. He tried many different methods of suffering in order to find the secrets, each failing in each of its own different ways
But, at the end of his life, he sat under a tree and would not move until he finally understood the secret to suffering and preached to his followers. He layed himself to rest on his final day under that tree. He was the Buddha at this time
