He attended St. Johns then attended Wloclawek which was intended to prepare him for The University of Krakow. After attending Wloclawek in the winter of 1491 Copernicus began attending the University of Krakow in the department of arts. It is said Copernicus became very familiar with professor Albert Brudzewski and a former pupil of his who had taught philosophy and privately taught astronomy. However, in his personal life, I personally think the biggest influence over his education was his uncle. His uncle Lucas Watzenrose had basically taken Copernicus under his wing and treated him like a son providing him with the education that has made him so known to this day.
Copernicus is known as the father of astronomy. He was the first European scientist to suggest the belief of a heliocentric solar system which basically means the idea that the earth and all other planets revolve around the sun. Which in these times was a huge statement being that it was believed everything revolved around the earth because that is what the church had spread and this caused Copernicus lots of struggles.
