Linda and Lenina are talking to one another about Linda’s birth. Linda says, “Just think of it: me, a Beta-having a baby: put yourself in my place.” Lenina shudders at the thought of having a baby. Birth is such a horrific term to people living in the World State. Linda also finds giving birth worse because she’s a Beta which show the view on the social classes in the World State.
