The mountains were tall and high. It was becoming winter time. But poor Sandy was stuck in a crack of a tree.
Oh no! Sandy falls off the tree onto a raging waterfall! Crash, Bang, Splash! She rolls down onto a gushing waterfall.
One of the waves pushed her closer to the rivers bank. She is now on solid ground.
All the sand had been washed into the ocean along with Sandy. As Sandy got sucked into the ocean, other rocks from the beach also got swept in the raging water.
Did it talk?!
Sandy got swept into the ocean by a strong storm, and was attached to a piece of kelp, one type of seaweed.
As summer settled in, the kelp dried out completely. Now Sandy was a grain of sand surrounded by many friendly grains. She washed up and down the waves on the beach. Sometimes, she would get caught under someone's foot and walk a few feet on the sands. Sometimes, she would find herself being scooped up by a pail and turned upside down on a bucket when little children built sand castles along the ocean. She was happy she got to see the smiling faces of the little children, hear the little giggles, and feel the tiny hands digging through the sand. Sandy wished she could remain here forever!
