  • The Germans must take full responsibility for the war. They must sign the treaty!
  • We weren't the only ones fighting in this war!
  • The Germans started it they must pay!
  • Our factories and homes are turned into rubble.  They must pay!
  • The Allies ordered representatives of the German Republic to sign the treaty. 
  • Make it smaller!!
  • Please I just want peace!!
  • The German delegates were horrified.  The treaty forced Germany to assume full blame for causing the war. 
  • No we want to be paid back. 
  • The treaty imposed reparations later calculated at $30 billion. 
  • Those Germans will never come at us again!
  • Some parts of the treaty were aimed at weakening Germany.  It removed lots of Germany territory and limited the size of their army. 
  • From the United States, Wilson wanted "peace without victory."
  • Wilson was out voted by Clemencea and George because they did not want to be threatened by Germany again.
