  • Drafting of Bill- a bill is a proposed law, it can be drafted by anyone
  • We have all voted in favor of the bill.
  • Introduction of Bill- a member of the Assembly must introduce a bill, the Reading Clerk reads aloud the name of the introducer, bill number, the bill title
  • The House has concurs with the amendments made by the Senate.
  • Reference to Committee- the bill will be assigned to a committee for careful study and recommendation, if the bill is approved it will be put on the calendar
  • It's a law!
  • Consideration by the First and Second House- people debate for and against the bill, at the end they all vote, a bill is read 3 times
  • Concurrence in Amendments- if amendments are made in the Second House, then they must be sent back to to the First House so that they can concur
  • Enrollment, Ratification, and Publication- if a bill passes both houses it becomes enrolled, a copy of the bill including all of the amendments is sent to the 2 presiding officers and after the second signature it becomes a law
