Echo was a young maiden that entertained Hera, goddess of heaven.
One day, Hera found out that Echo had lied, knowing that she banished her from heaven.
Goodbye Echo! for thy shall never enter my land again!
One day while Echo was in the woods, Narcissus a young man that was loved by all wondered into the woods, being lost he began to call out, and he heard an answer back, it was Echo repeading every word he said back to him.
Finally finding the source of his copier, he began to ask her questions, which she could only repeat. Becoming mad, he started to say foul words to her.

Finally fed up with the conflict with Echo, he stormed off to a lake and saw his reflection, falling in love with himself at once he tried to reach out and clasp the reflection which he didn't realize was himself, failing to clasp the figure he fell into the lake and met his death. Because of Narcissus' act of hubris, he died. The theme of this story is to be careful of your actions.
