The civil war lasted from 1861-1865. During this time Union soldiers were camped in the south where they trained, ate, and slept.
Throughout the war the camps were set up so they were closer to the war.
Today in modern times there are still things like camps such as boot camps.
This helped our nation because being closer to the war helped a union victory.
During the war at camps they are hard tac which was just baked flour and water.
