  • Gentalmen,  there is a very important problem we have happening in this country.
  • It was a fall day and a very important meeting was going on inside the stone building. The Constitution Convention! However, there was a problem. Only selected representatives from each state were allowed inside. These representatives had to be Men. The first thing these men had to talk about was the constant rebellion that was occurring throughout the states.
  • Yes, we do many people have been fighting against each other because they feel that laws are unfair.
  • That is why it is very important that we have this meeting to solve most problems
  • What is this? The LIBERTY WOMEN SECRET SOCIETY is meeting to discuss how unfair it is to not be included in the Convention!
  • It's not fair that only men can make the laws and women have no say.
  • We want to make history too!
  • Yes, I agree! this should change!
  • I have an idea! I think we should go secretly listen in on the conversation being had inside the building!
  • And so, the two leaders of the Liberty Women made a plan to listen behind the door of the Constitution Convention.
  • That's a great idea! Let's go!
  • The Convention has begun! And now they cover the first issue: the unfair voting laws.
  • The first thing we should talk is the unfair voting laws. And how we should change them.
  • The northern states believe they should not be allowed to vote because then the southern states would outnumber the northern states and it would be unfair.
  • Some southern states feel that slaves should be able to vote. This way they will have a greater population voting and will be able to win most things that are voted on.
  • None of these men can agree!  I know what we need! A compromise!
  • At the door of the Convention...
  • Let's meet back with the society and find an idea that supports both sides!
  • Well, we know the Southern states, who had more slaves, want them to be included in the population count...
  • But Northern States disagree! They have less slaves, and if they are included, then the Southern states will have more representatives, which is unfair.
  • Why not find a compromise? Let's allow three fifths of slaves to be counted as the population!
  • Great! Now let's write this down and slip it under the door to the convention!
