While Lennox is with the Scottish lord Macduff and Malcolm are with Edward The Confessor, King of England, in an attempt to gain his aid to overthrow Macbeth.
Lennox had not known that Macduff was sent to the king so he questions the lord. In which the lord responds that there may be a disturbance in their journey. Lennox prays that they return swiftly in order to save our suffering country. The act ends with the lord saying a prayer.
