“‘I am too, Miss Skeeter. I’m on help you.’" (Pg 297)
“‘Look, I found that paraphernalia of yours.’” (Pg 240)
“After the next one, I start counting. Five. six. Seven. I nod back at them, can say nothing but thank you. Thank you. Yes, thank you, to each one. My relief is bitter, that it took Yule May’s internment to bring us to this.” (Pg 297). Everyone heard about Yule May, so they all became inspired to help Miss Skeeter, so now she has enough to write the book.
The Road Back
Skeeter and Aibileen get anxious that she may have found some sort of evidence about the interviewing they were doing. Skeeter accidentally left her satchel behind and Miss Hilly had it. She could have easily found it, but just found the laws Skeeter got from the library.
“Soon as she gone, I run out and tote the box inside and grab out a copy and I just stare. I don’t even try not to cry. Be the prettiest book I ever seen. The cover is a pale blue, color a the sky. And a big white bird-a peace dove-spreads its wings from end to end. The title Help is written across the front in black letters, in a bold fashion. The only thing that bothers me is the who-it-be-by part. It say by anonymous. I wish Miss Skeeter could a put her name on it, but it was just too much of a risk.” (Pg 462)
When Hilly pulls up to Skeeter's house very distressed and determined to try and ruin Skeeter and everyone who helped her life. She tries to convince everyone in town it isn't about Jackson so they don't realize her chapter. she wants to tell Skeeter's mom what she's done but doesn't end up doing it.
“‘Oh, that talk doesn’t hurt me. Everyone in town knows it’s not Jackson. It’s some town you made up in that sick little head of yours, and I know who helped you, too.’” (Pg 495)
“ I lean against the shelves. Close my eyes. I’m going. I am going to New York.” (Pg 500). After she tells Aibileen she got a job offer but isn’t going to take it. Minny gives her a long message that she needs to go, then hangs up and Skeeter changes her mind.
“Maybe I ain’t too old to start over, I think, and I laugh and cry at the same time at this. Cause just last night I thought I was finished with everything new.” (Pg 522).. Miss Leefolt fired Aibileen because of Miss Hilly. Aibileen is walking home and is thinking her life is still beginning and she can change the outcome.
