  • Hey Lydia! How are you?
  • Hey Rachel! I'm good! Ready to get started on this project about Jackie Robinson?
  • Whites Only
  • Jackie Robinson was born on January 31s, 1919 in Cairo Georgiga.
  • He was also born into a family of sharecroppers.
  • On April 13th, 1947 Jackie broke the baseball color line and became the first negro to play baseball.
  • RIght before that in 1942 Jackie was drafted into the Army.
  • The sign in the back says white only. This is because back in the day it was very segregated. This is why people got so mad when Jackie stated playing baseball.
  • Many white people hated the fact that a negro was able to play baseball.
  • Jackie signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers and they made him promise that he wouldn't fight back.
  • Jackie, later on, moved to Florida to play with the Royals. He still got a lot of racism thrown at him from people in the crowd, other teams, and even some coaches.
  • Jackie also got married and had 3 kids.
  • I think we got everything we need for this project!
  • I think so too! Good Job! See you in school tomorrow!
