Storyboard Text

  • The Crucible
  • “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!”
  • Reputation
  • Woman, plead with him! Woman! It is pride, it is vanity. Be his helper!--What profit him to bleed? Shall the dust praise him? Shall the worms declare his truth? Go to him, take his shame away!
  • He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him!
  • Final Project
  • If you will have it so, so I will tell it! I say I will! If you can still hear, hear this! Can you hear! You will tell the court you are blind to spirits; you cannot see them anymore , and you will never cry witchery again, or I will make you famous for the whore you are!
  • John Proctor would rather die than have his confession posted on the church building for everyone to see. He wants his name clean because this is the only name he has.
  • The Crucible by Arthur Miller
  • Hale is trying to persuade Goody Proctor to talking to John about his decision. He'd rather have John confess to his witchcraft, so his life would be spared (along with others) from being hanged, in which Elizabeth declined.
  • The Theme
  • John Proctor is going to out Abigail and expose her for all the things she has done in attempt to fix this situation the best he can, provide innocent people justice, and possibly save his reputation in order to destroy Abigail's.
  • Relevance
  • This is a story about a place in Salem Massachusetts, in 1692, where people tell a tale of witch trails and begin to fall into question about everything around them, leading up to a mad spread of hysteria and senseless murder.
  • Reputation can play a terrible part in society as others thrive on how this unraveled. It demonstrates how far people would go in order to get their way and cause chaos in others' lives. his was so hectic, that people were throwing others under the bus in order to save themselves from being accused.
  • Reputation is such a huge factor in society. So much can be taken accountable for if a certain person/group of people dislike or judge you in a certain matter. Your life could be ruined in the blink of an eye and you will always be seen as this specific subject in the eyes of many.
