  • This tape has a gap of 18 1/2 minutes
  • Judge Sirica, I had accidently erased the tape while I was transcribing it
  • It shows that you accounted for only 5 minutes of erasure leaving 13 1/2 minutes minutes of the missing tape. unaccounted for
  • March 1974, a grand jury for their role in the Watergate cover-up Seven top White House officals--including Mitchell and Colson
  • President Nixton turned in the tapes to Judge Sirica, but noticed that some conversations requested by the special prosecutor were missing.
  • I request 42 more tapes
  • Nixton blamed the accidental erasure on his secretary Rose Mary Woods. So Rose when to tell Judge Sirica.
  • Nixton was not indicted with his top aides.
  • Leon Jaworski gave Sirica a secret report and bulging briefcase of evident against the president and asked him to send it to the House Judiciary Committe for charges of impeachment. Jaworksi asked Nixton for 42 more tapes.
  • End of April President Nixton released transcrips of the tapes.
  • The Government Printing Office sold 800 copies of the transcripts of the tapes that were edited out of all irrelevant material in 3 hours on May 1, 1974
