Storyboard Text

  • The Crucible, By: Arthur Miller
  • Theme of The Crucible, First Scene
  • "You misunderstand, sir; I cannot pardon when these 12 are already hanged for the same crime. It is not just." Act 4, pg 129
  • Second Scene
  • "I have never sold myself! I'm a good girl! I'm a proper girl!" Act 1, pg 43
  • The Crucible is about the Salem Witch Trials in the 1600s. Many women and men were falsely accused of witchcraft and killed.
  • Third Scene
  • "There be no love for Satan in this house, Mister" Act 2, pg 67
  • One theme from The Crucible is that power and authority may enable people to do anything.
  • How Is This Relevant To Today?
  • The previous slide is proving how Danforth is using his power in the court to do what he believes is right. This scene is proving how Abigail is using her trust with everyone and betraying it by lying often.
  • In this scene, John Proctor proclaims that he and his family do not Iove the devil. Hale believes this because of John's authority.
  • Nowadays, politicians, like our president, are the ones with power and authority who use it to do what they want. Much like Danforth, a powerful figure who had controversial ideas, President Trump is the same.
