Beowulf and his 14 geats, sail across the sea to the land of the Danes to fight the demon Grendel.
Grendel attacks Heorot hall, and Beowulf meets him in hand-to-hand combat. Beowulf tears his arm from his socket wounding him.

King Hrothgar thanks Beowulf by giving him rich gifts, and hosts a feast in his honor.
Beowulf tracks Grendel's mother to her lair in a cave under the lake, and kills her with a massive sword h finds there. He then reutrns with Grendel's head and the hilt of the sword that killed Grendels mother.
Beowulf then hears about a marauding dragon, and he suspects he will die fighting him. He then tracks him down and with the help of Wiglaf they kill him, but Beowulf is injured
