The cowboys helped out the ranchers a lot, the ranchers probably couldn’t live without the cowboys. They bought a ranch that had 1,200 acres and 500 head of cattle. Some of the cowboys wore hats but others wore the vaqueros broad felt hat. Cowboys called their ropes “lassos” instead of lariats. They also used colorful posters to attract large crowds.
People moved town to town, following the oils strikes. Most people were more concerned with drilling oil than planning for the city. Most of Texas boomtowns were crowded and dirty places. Some oil fielders stayed/lived in tents or shacks. Boomtowns were not good places to live/and not many children and women lived here because of that reason.
New technology helped the farmers out in their daily life. For example, they started to use windmills to pump water from aquifers for crop irrigation. They also used two row planters and threshers to make there crops grow faster. Finally, in the late 1800’s they began to use tractors, which helped them out a lot.
