Our homes, cars, light, and heat, all need power. We get that power by mining.
Green Energy and Renewable resources can help solve this problem.
Green Energy Solution 1: BIO GAS
To power everything in our lives we mine for coal, crude oil, and fossil fuels. We also mine for minerals and other materials to make the things we use in everyday life. Such as molybdenum, which is used in our cell phones.
How It Works Bio fuel
The problem with this is the resources are finite. Eventually we will run out. They also aren't being used in a sustainable way, with over 90% of the things Americans buy ending up in the trash six months later.
Green Energy Solution 2: LED Lights
LED lights are much more energy effcient than normal lights.
Bio gas is gas that can be made through the breaking down of organic matter. Scientists have figured out how to use bio gas to power cars. This way mining for gas won't be necessary if it can work and be produced on a mass scale.
When organic matter breaks down in a place without oxygen, it releases gases. Mostly methane and CO2. Several different systems are used to catch and repurpose the gas. Decomposition usually occurs under water, so the gas won't escape into the atmosphere. Organic polymer are broken down, acideogenic bacteria convert sugar into organic acids, then acetic acids and then methane. Then methane can be used for green energy.
LED lights 80% more efficient then incandescent and fluorescent lights. They use 95% of their energy for light, and only 5% on heat, the exact opposite of traditional lights. A 36 watt LED can replace an 86 watt fluorescent light and give off the same amount of light. An LED can have a life span up to six times longer than other lights.
LED save electricity. Less mining is need to power homes, schools, and other buildings. We won't run out of resources as quickly. Less energy is wasted with LED's. Long life spans reduce waste as they don't need to be replaced as often. Using less energy to produce the same amount of light makes them more efficient. Using green energy sources such as gas and bio fuel slow resource depletion and help us become less dependent on finite resources.
