In the book The Color Purple, Celie is the main character who struggles in a world where women are looked down upon and colored people are treated poorly.
Celie is married off to Mr.____ and moves in with him. Her life starts changing when Shug Avery moves into the house.
Celie finds out that Mr._____ has been hiding the letters that Nettie, her sister, has sent to her. She believed that Netties didn't want to see her again. With the help and comfort from Shug, she find the rest of the letters.
In one of the notes from Nettie, Celie finds out that her Pa really isn't her Pa. She goes to her old house to confront him and finds out that her "Ma" moved out and her "Pa" has a new mistress.
After finding out about her real parents, Celie decides to stand up for herself and announces that she is moving to Tennessee with Shug. There she decides to start her own pants business.
Through Nettie's notes, Celie finds out that she her kids are still alive. At the end of the book she reunites with her kids and sister.
