I'm confused about the meiosis topic we've been doing in class can you explain it a little more to me.
Mitosis -Asexual -Results in 2 identical cells (diploid) - When mitosis happens, each new cell will have 46 chromosomes(just like the original) -The purpose of mitosis is to grow and repair
Both -Create cells -End with diploid cells
Meiosis -Sexual -Results in 4 daughter cells which are not identical to parent cell (called gametes) -Meiosis I = Cell divides - Meiosis II = Cell divides again, creating 4 daughter cells -The cells that are made in meiosis are haploid which means half -The haploid gametes fuse and make diploid during fertilization
