  • What are the characteristics of a true friendship?

  • George broke in loudly, “oh! I ain’t saying he’s bright. He ain’t. But I say he’s a God damn good worker. He can put up four hundred pound bale.”
  • What is an individual's duty to others?
  • Yeah, you can have a pup if you want to. Carl's right, Candy. the dog Ain't no good to himself. I wish somebody'd shoot me if I get old an' a cripple. 
  • Well, you ain't been' that kind to him keeping him alive, look slim's bitch got a litter right now . I bet Slim would give you one of those pups to raise up, wouldn't you, slim?
  • What is empathy?  Is it an important characteristic?
  • Through that scene George speaks for and defends Lennie  when Lennie is question by the boss. This shows that Lennie means a lot to George that he would take the time to defend him. 
  • This shows our duty to others is by Charlie trying to help candy and the whole cabin by killing the dog. Even if it brings emotional hardship to candy.
