This is when I graduated Dartmouth collage in 1809.
If we all agree that the Grate Plains ours, I can travel west to examine the land.
When I tried to design a steam boat to carry us up the river, but I failed to succeed. I was an army engineer.
When I got to the Rocky Mountain, I went South, in hope I would find the Mississippi river. I also wanted to become the next important western explorer. But it was suppose to be a scientific mission.
As I explored the west I examined the land, streams, plants, and minerals along the way. The climate was different and hard to except that the animals, plants, and streams survived.
I had made a map of where I explored. I concluded that, the region was a desert and unfit for agriculture.
