I don't care how the South feels the 36 30 line will be respected!
Kansas - Nebraska Act (1854)
The only one who will be beaten is you, so begone from the free state!
Kansas is free! It is over the 36 30 line !
I don't give a dang about your 36 30 line, Douglas said popular sovereignty and that's how it's gonna be!
You heard the man, beat it!
Election of 1860
I swear if Abraham Lincoln wins South Carolina will secede!
Sectionalism was the main reason why the North & South went to war, both sides cared more about their sections instead of the bigger pictures and this lead to many fights because of clashing priorities and even caused the US to become split apart.
John Brown's Raid
What they did to John Brown was terrible, we have carry on what he did!
Out of all the events that has happened between the North & South the Kansas - Nebraska Act was the most important precursor to the civil war. This not only made conflicts between the North and South worst but it also gave both sections a reason not to follow the rules established there as well. Additionally this led to Bleeding Kansas, a battle both sides fought to acquire Kansas as a free or slave state
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Dear have you heard what's going on down there in the South?! It's terrible the children... SLAVERY!!
Agreed! Douglas hasn't said he supported slavery, but at least he's not fully agianist it!
The outcome of the Election of 1860 would be the deciding factor on whether or not the South would secede from the Union. If the South did secede (which they did) the country would be torn apart and nothing would really be stopping the North and South from going to war.
Dred Scott Case
Attention everyone! Mr.Scott lost the case, we need to try harder to free the slaves!
John Brown's Raid caused the South to be suspicious of the North and made them think that something like this could happen again. Brown's actions could motivate the North to do the same and use force to free the slaves.
Yeah! If the South won't value the rights of slaves then we'll have to force them to value them
The book known as "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was a great eye-opener for the North, the North wasn't really aware of what slavery was and this book brought it to light. Though this book didn't cause any fighting between the North & South (yet) it made the North aware of the atrocities that the South was doing when it came to slavery.
Did you say slavery?! That's terrible, what's the government doing about it?!
Father, what's slavery?
Out of everything Dred Scott's Case was the least important to causing the Civil War. Despite that the outcome of this case did motivate the North to try harder in helping slaves escape and would lead to more drastic actions to provide the slaves with freedom
