  • It's about time they hear the truth about slavery
  • The fugitive slave law of 1850 provided southerns with the legal right to capture slaves who escaped to free states. This lead to war because the southerns were coming into free land and taking slaves.
  • Secession
  • The Bleeding Kansas Act of (1854) was multiple violent attacks between pro slavery and anti slavery in regards to Kansas being a free or slave state. This caused extreme violence based on popular soveriegnty.

  • Uncle Tom's Cabin was a novel, Harritet Beecher Stowe. Her book was used to teach the north about slavery. Mainly because they were against slavery but ignorant to the meaning of enslavement.
  • Lincoln-Douglas Debates(1857)
  • Secession means to formally withdraw or leave. Which is exactly what the South did when they had separated from the Union. The southern secession had encouraged other southern states to leave the Union.

  • John Browns Raid was a plan used to instigate a slave rebellion in the South. Thus, deepened the division between the North and the South.
  • Lincoln-Douglas debates, was when Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas debated across the senate and across the state.
