  • Celtiberians, Phoenicians, and Greeks
  • The Iberians and Celts united to form the Celtiberians. The Phoenicians and Greeks established colonies and trading posts from the 11th to 8th century BC
  • Early Spain
  • The carthagianians Invaded Spain in the third centuaray B.C.  The Romans later defeated them in 200 B.C. and ruled for six centuries. The Romans built bridges and other structures like roads. The Romans also introduced their language Latin which is what modern day spanish is derived from.
  • The Moors defeated the Visigoths and ruled most of Spain for 7 centuries. They contributed to philosophy and medicine, invented the waterwheel, and the introduced Arabic language.

  • Don Pelayo was the first leader in the reconquest for Spain. He defeated the Moors in the Battle of Covadonga 718 A.D. Another one of Spains hero was El Cid he continued the fight against the Moors and Captured Valencia from them in 1094.
  • Fernando and Isabel drove the Moors out of Spain. Carlos V was one of the most powerful Spanish kids. Felipe II's "Invincible Armada" was defeated in an attempt to invade Englad in 1588.
  • In the early 1800s Spain had a rebellion against the French rule. Then in 1898 the Spanish American war took place which ended with Spain losing. Spain had a Civil war in the mid 1930s which was won by Fransico Franco and his supporters.
