From: Phoenix Bird I feel I could have written your story. It is so beautiful. I have to go to cheerleading practice but I can't wait for your next story.
Jason's class is going to the library today and Jason is excited because he was going to check his storyboard account. In the library Maggie is his computer and he wants to use his computer. She won't move and Jason wants it so Miss. Leno comes over and tells Jason to move to a different computer. Jason has autism and doesn't adjust to new situations well. People act as if autistic people don't have feelings and they don't even try to understand.
His only escape form the awful reality is Storyboard. On which he writes amazing stories many people enjoy, including this mystery person Phoenix Bird. He thinks that this person might be a girl. Jason doesn't usually talk to people especially girls. He doesn't know who she is or where she is from. What he doesn't know is that she lives in Dallas, Texas the same place the Storyboard convention is held.
Jason was excited to get to go to the Storyboard convention until he found out Rebecca, PhoenixBird, is going to be there too. Jason doesn't want Rebecca to see the autistic kid he wanted here to see Jason the one who writes the stories she likes. The ironic thing is Rebecca turns out to be blind and Jason wonders if she was just as scared to meet him as he was to meet her.
One of Jason's recent stories was the one about Bennu. Bennu is a dwarf who was given the opportunity to change his height with experimental surgery. Jason reflects off of Bennu. In the story Bennu decides to get the surgery because he wants to look and be normal. He is unhappy with the results his height changed but he didn't change. This is what Jason felt like until he realized he doesn't have to change himself to get people to accept him.
Jason's mother tells him on the way back from Dallas that all this time she thought he needed her but it her who really needs him. Jason realizes that he doesn't need her but he appreciates her always being there. When he gets home he decides to change his story about Bennu. He decides to change it to how its supposed to be.
Jason's original story had Bennu changing himself and going through with the surgery. Now Jason realizes the importance in learning to accept yourself the way you are. In the rewritten story, Bennu goes to the doctors and tells him he isn't going to do the surgery because he like himself the way he is.
