The story of Samson started when a man named Manoah and his wife, who was not able to have children, were visited by an angel of God. The angel told them that they would have a boy who would lead the Israelites to freedom, and they named him Samson. His parents were also told that they should never cut his hair, because it is the source of his strength in victory.
The Story of Samson
Later on in his life, Samson was cheated on by the Philistines, Israel's ememy. Samson became very angry at the Philistines, and got his revenge by burning down several of their plants.
Samson hid from his actions in a cave, but soon, he was found and taken to the Philistines. When he was taken to them, the Spirit of the Lord came down on him, and he escaped. He soon became a leader of the Israelites, which he was for 20 years.
While the Philistines made plots to get their revenge, Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah. The Philistines secretly bribed Delilah into getting Samson to tell her his weakness in exchange for money. Delilah agreed, and tried to get Samson to tell her, but Samson lied about his secret strength power.
Finally, Samson told Deborah that if you cut his hair, his strength will go away. Sure enough, Deborah cut his hair, and the Philistines took Samson captive. Samson was heart broken, because he had lost his faith in Deborah.
Samson was taken to be executed, and Samson prayed to God that he wouldn't die alone, and that the Philistines would die with him. He used his remaining strength from the hair he had left to break the columns he was tied to, and sure enough, several of the Philistines died. The story of Samson teaches that we get our strength from God, and with him, all things are possible.
