Within the biosphere, Earth, a morpho butterfly named Donovan, lives in the Rainforest, which is its biome and is made up of various matter which consists of cells. Within the biome, populations of jaguars, sloths, toucans, orchids, and the cacao tree interact creating the biological community. Scientist studying ecology often observe the rainforest and how the different animals, plants, and abiotic factors interact with each other. A butterfly’s habitat can be something like a tree or bush.
Donovan is a herbivore, so he eats biotic things like plants and nectar from flowers. While Donovan eats the plants, he must watch out for the wasp and snakes that want to eat him. But while the snakes is stalking the butterfly, the snake also has to watch out for the harpy eagles that want to eat it. This process is called the food web because the different food chains are interlocking and interacting with each other.
The morpho butterfly population drinks nectar through their tongues that function like the straws and provides key nutrients. When he eats, his body turns the food into energy, called biochemical energy. Since they don’t eat meat this means that they are herbivores and also means that they are heterotrophs, because he gets his nutrients from other organisms. They also interact in their ecosystem with abiotic factors by sitting on rocks.
