  • The plague, a heavily contagious and deadly bacterial disease was mainly caused by microscopic organisms called Yersinia pestis. These extremely small organisms lived in rats, rodents, and mice and in the fleas that feed on them.
  • Merchants on their trade routes were infected by the bacterial disease as  they were bitten by fleas who contained the deadly bacteria.
  • The Mongols besieging the port of Kaffa in 1346
  • We've lost most of our troops due to this unknown deadly disease
  • More than 200 people died every day in just the city of London!
  • The economy in Europe gradually declined as millions of lives were lost.
  • The Black Death killed about 30–60% of Europe's total population.
