Uncle Tom's Cabin is a book about a black mother who is a slave and her black son. This book portrays what is was like to be a slave under her circumstances trying to protect her son.
The Fugitive Slave Act made it so if a slave ran away into a free state he would be arrested and returned to his/her owner.

The Missouri Compromise was the legislation that provided for the admission of Maine to the United States as a free state along with Missouri as a slave state. As part of the compromise, slavery was prohibited north of the 36°30′ parallel, excluding Missouri.
