"These cattle are not for our taking," cautioned Captain.
A violent storm caused us to take cover in a sea cave of rocks and sanded floors. For a month, we were trapped on the island with Helios' beloved cattle. We were informed by our captain, Odysseus, to not touch Helios' cattle or there will be a price to pay.
For a while the food was plentiful, but thereafter the amount dwindled. The food is now all gone and we began to starve. "What is to come?" the sailing master questioned. "May the Gods be in our favor, we are in desperate need of food," the quartermaster replied grimly.
Our captain leaves us to pray for our salvation. Eurylochus gathers us and yells, "Famine is the worst death, let us sacrifice these cattle." We agreed, " Aye, we will fight the famine and kill the forbidden cattle together."
We kill Helios' cattle, perform rituals, and prepare the meat for sacrifice as offerings. "Captain will be overjoyed at the sight of a good meal!" said the quartermaster happily. For six days we enjoyed and feasted on the cooked meat while captain looked reluctant.
"All is well, the weather is perfect for sailing. It is time to go home," declared the sailing master. Soon after aboard our ship, another violent storm of Zeus' emerged mysteriously.
Zeus struck our ship twice with his thunderbolts, and she was being destroyed before our eyes. "Step cautiously, men!" yelled the first mate. Captain, who has floated away, and I are the last men alive, but I am soon to die. Every man was thrown off the ship, and I all around me I see dead men floating in the wreckage .
