  • The people want to have more meat supply in the Northeast. The part of the region was so huge it cover a lot of land and the cattle was reduced by the Civil war but Texas had a greater demand for beef.
  • Kerosene was a new form of fuel for lighting that could be made from coal or petroleum. Commonly called oil, petroleum is dark thick liquid fossil fuel. A fossil fuel is fuel  form underground from plant and animals remains.
  •  At the end of the decade, Texas continued to lag behind the rest of the country, which had 53,000 miles of track in 1870.
