  • Romulus and Remus were direct descents  of Aeneas by their mother's father, Numitor who was the king of Alba Longa. Their mother Rhea Silvia was raped by an unknown man, but her pregnancy was blamed on divine conception.Rhea was a Vestal Virgin so she should have been killed. However, she gave birth and the children were ordered to death by live burial, exposure, or being thrown into the river. A servant took pity on the two boys, puts them into a basket into the river so they were safe.
  • Death of Remus and the Founding of Rome
  • Romulus
  • The two boys were discovered caught in a tree by a wolf, and they were fed by a woodpecker. Eventually, a shepherd found them and took care of them. The boys became shepherds and found themselves in a fight with other shepherds. Remus was captured and brought to King Amulius. While Romulus was saving his brother they killed King Amulius.
  • Beginnings of Rome: War and Peace
  • Being the descendants of the king they were offered the crown, but they declined it to find their own city. Both brothers found different area where they wanted to rule. They argued on which one was better and decided to use augury to settle it. However, they still couldn't settle it so Romulus built walls around his land to become independent.
  • The Death of Romulus
  • Remus made fun of Romulus's wall and city so he decided to jump over it. Some say that Romulus was so mad that he killed him. Others say that it was Remus died from jumping over the wall. But, some also say that it was Romulus's supporters that killed him. But it was the death of Remus that marked the founding of Rome.
  • Remus
  • Romulus established a government system that implemented senators and patricians that made his city grow. However, there were a lot more men than women so they abducted women from parties they would throw. This raged a war between Rome and the Sabine and Latin which the Romans won. Rome, Sabine, and Tatius formed a truce. However, when Tatius was caught defying the truce he was killed Rome went back to it's own one king city. THe government became more autocratic and resentful.
  • There are many different myths on how Romulus died. One was that he disappeared into a storm, and he ascended into the heavens and became a god. Others say that the Senate killed him so they can have their own power. Because they were hostile resentful people, and it was followed by an eclipse and sudden storm. However he did Romulus disappeared in 717 BCE.
