Storyboard Text

  • Michael wants to touch the rim. The only problem is he doesn't know how high the rim is.
  • ?
  • Tan35 = 15 / X
  • The only way Michael knows how to solve for the height of the rim is by using Trigonometry
  • He is standing 15 feet from the rim
  • Michael must now find all of the measurements needed in order to put an equation together.
  • 15ft
  • Im 5 feet tall. Im looking up at the rim by a 35 degree angle
  • 5Ft
  • Now all Michael has to do is put the numbers into the equation and solve
  • X
  • 35
  • 15ft
  • Michael is going to use the Tangent of 35 degrees to solve the opposite over adjacent
  • X(Tan35)=15 X = 15/tan35 X = 21.42 feet
  • YESSSS!!!! I have found the height of the rim Thanks to Trigonometry
  • The height of the rim is 21.42 feet
  • Thanks to the help of trigonometry Michael can touch the rim
