Storyboard Text

  • Mesopotamia was located in Asia, Iraq between The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
  • We moved to the Zagros foothills. The problem we had from the lack of space was our farmers couldn' t grow more food, so people moved to Sumer.
  • Because, we had the two rivers on both sides of Mesopotamia we were always getting our fields flooded, so we made irrigation systems to help control the water and feed our crops.
  • We also made levees to help stop flooding in our crop fields.
  • Our irrigation systems had to be cleaned from silt, we made this happen by working together. Since we communicated so well we started to make city states.
  • As our cities grew and we people interacted more we only really had problems with the water, because the cities up river would make canals to block the water from other cities.
  • These advancements helped Sumer rise into the region of human advancements by giving them better ways of getting water to their crops and allowing them protection from walls and moats
