  • The overall conflict of the book was person vs. society because the south was segregated and African American integrated little rock central high

  • the protagonist is Melba and the antagonist is segregationist
  • Round Characters 
  • The soldiers shoes went "click clack" as they walked "once our screaming eagles delivered us to safety..." (soldiers)
  • Melba dynamic because at first she was bothered by white disrespect but as we got to the end of the book she just replied with a thank you. Grandma India is static  because she stayed religious and stuck to her beliefs all book.
  • Danny had a very big impact on Melba's life
