"For the first time, Jonas heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing. Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, Jonas thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo."
Jonas saw the house. It had been a light colored wood cabin, covered in snow and ash. It looked cozy, drawing him in. He couldn’t control his mind. Jonas was slowly approaching the house.
I opened the door. I had seen the Giver and the Chief Elder fading into the world, except she was real. This had been real life.
Jonas had been confused. He didn't know why he had his test. Jonas didn't understand how the communities must be changed. Jonas questioned his surroundings.
Jonas now understood that he had to do his test. It is so important that it must be succeeded. He waved goodbye to the Giver and Chief Elder and left the cabin.
Jonas was moving through the snow, leaving the cabin. He had been frightened, yet also felt eager for his test. Jonas traveled through much of the mountains and saw another boundary.
