"No one else was in the barn. Salva stood so quickly that for a moment he felt dizzy. He rushed to the door and looked out. Nobody. Nothing. They had left him. He was alone." (Park, 13).
As Salva was in the island in the middle of the Nile River, the sun set and thousands of mosquitoes attacked Salva and his group. Each of the men were covered in them and the mosquitoes didn't go away until the morning.
"The man told Uncle to get up and leave his gun where it was. Two of the other men took Uncle to a tree several yards away and tied him to it... As Salva watched, one of the men aimed his gun at Uncle. Three shots rang out. Then the men ran away." (Park, 63).
