  • Would like to go to a band in Dixford tomorrow night at nine?

  • I don't like fishing
  • (I better hide my pole then)
  • Set in the Summer time, the main character talks about his home and how the Mants are renting a cabin across the river for the summer.
  • Conflict
  • One of the Mants, Sheila Mant, is liked by the main character. The main character proceeds to ask her to go to a band with him. She says yes and the main character plans how to get there.
  • Falling Actions
  • The main character and Sheila leave to go to the concert. They go by canoe and the main character decides to bring a fishing pole secretly. We learn that Sheila thinks fishing is stupid and the main character hides the fact he has a pole out.
  • Resolution
  • You're a funny kid
  • The main character's secret fishing pole gets a bite and he believes it is the biggest bass he has ever hooked. He has to decide quick if he is going to have to cut the line for Sheila or to reel it in to get the biggest bass he ever has.
  • What's that sound? It sounds like a fishing pole
  • No, I think it's bats
  • (This is a big bass)
  • Sheila and the main character are almost to Dixford and he has to choose if he is going to choose the bass or Sheila. The main character decides to cut the line.
  • I don't hear the sound anymore
  • *cuts the line*
  • At the end of the concert, Sheila decides to take a ride home in Erik Caswell's Corvette. She says to the main character that he is a "funny kid." This leaves the main character regretting not reeling in the bass.
  • (Should of caught that bass)
