When walking on the roads you maybe tempted to cross the road without the crosswalk, but it's actually illegal and called jaywalking and can be dangerous. It also affects oncoming traffic possibly ambulences who are in a hurry to get some where so take an extra few minutes to get to a crosswalk and crosss.
Hi I'm Jordane and I'm here to talk to you about road safety for pedestrians . With lots of vehicles and distracted drivers it's important to know rules of the road to prevent accidents.
Remember to watch and look at the cars before you cross the street because even though the crosswalk may be on, cars may not be paying attention to the light. Ensure the drivers see you be for crossing.
When you see construction going on be careful and don't play around because you could get hurt or get stuck where they are fixing roads like this person. Watch for cones and follow the construction workers instuctions.
When crossing the road look both ways. Start from the left because that's where the on coming traffics is coming from. I usually try to make eye contact with the drivers so the can see me. Wave you hand if a driver lets you go first if there are no lights, it' just means "thanks".
When you see a car backing up be careful, because they might not see you especially if you're a smaller person. So avoid standing behind someone who is backing up or you could get seriously hurt.
